In response to the region’s shortage of PPE (personal protective equipment) in medical facilities, Poway Adult School provided more than 50 homemade medical masks to two of the school’s healthcare business advisor partners, AAlcare and Sunrise of Sabre Springs. The masks were hand-sewn by adult students in sewing instructor Cathy Fowler’s class after news sources shared the urgent need for supplies to meed medical demands of the COVID crisis.
Hand-delivered by Denise McAndrews, Poway Career Education Specialist, the masks were happily accepted by staff at both facilities. “Over the last four years, these organizations have supported Poway Adult School by attending multiple meetings each year for our “Adult School Health Career Pathway,” says McAndrews. “They have provided ongoing support for our medical programs and have hired many of our students post-graduation.”
